23rd World Youth Day in Sydney - The opening
15. Juli 2008
Today, young people from all over the world come together in Sydney. Their religious faith is present wherever they are - at every streetcorner as well as in their privat life.
In the evening, the Archbishop of Sydney, Cardinal George Pell, celebrated the great opening service at Barangaroo - together with thousands of young people. In his sermon, Cardinal Pell explained the holy gospel of the sower, who sows the grain without restrictions - on stones and rocks, beneath briers as well as on good soil. The sower is Jesus Christ, the grain his message, but we are the soil - rocky or ready to bring new life.
Cardinal Pell remembered us, that trust in god is the key - the key to life. God never will leave us, but life is full of decisions - decisions, which might influence our further life strongly. In such situations we should always listen to the voice coming from the holy cross, to the voice coming from god.
