Between the years - Change of the years at the Monastery St. Mary Fatima

For the young people, our guests, the last evening of 2008 startet with the coordination of their sleeping rooms, with having refreshments and with two workshops to prepare the service in our chapel at midnight. »to picture gallery
At 9.00 p.m. we went to the eucharistic adoration, and in silence and contemplation we remembered all the essentials of the last year, and we brought all our sorrows, our wishes for the new year to the Lord.
At 10.00 p.m. we prayed the rosary in five different languages, accomplished by singing songs. Our common prayers, the warm and intimate light of the candles in the chapel gave a special atmosphere of safety, security and warmness.
At 11.30 p.m. the holy mass on occasion of the high feast of the Mother of God (1.1.) began, accomplished by the youth choir and the participants of the workshops. During the service, an old lady, Mrs. Schäfmann from St. Anna nearby, thanked God for the 90th anniversary of her birthday.
Then, our young guests celebrated the new year - at least until 5.00 a.m.
At 8.00 a.m. we came together again to the "Laudes" to welcome the new years morning!
Then, we had breakfast - and we really needed it.
At 10.00 a.m. we started for a new years hike - a good thing to restore our bodies and souls in the cold winter air after that long night ...
Back in the monastery, we were hungry and had lunch, which was prepared in the meantime by Sr. Danica and Sr. Ivanka.
At 2.00 p.m. we prayed together the rosary, and at 3.00 p.m. we celebrated the holy mass, again accomplished by our young guests.
After coffee, even the last of our young guests said good bye and went home to their families.
